Christmas in the Park is an annual holiday tradition that takes place in the heart of Downtown San Jose at the Plaza de Cesar Chavez. Each year, the two-acre park is transformed into a holiday wonderland with over 40 musical and animated exhibits, glittering lights and a 50-foot illuminated Christmas Tree. Enjoy a winter wonderland of lights, songs and daily local entertainment while strolling through an enchanted forest of trees decorated by the community.
After a long summer at the North Pole, Santa is back at Christmas in the Park from November 25th to December 24th. Bring your camera and take pictures with jolly Old Nick himself!

Dave's Christmas Lights Benefiting Make-a-Wish
For almost 20 years, this Willow Glen house at 1851 Cherry Ave has been displaying Christmas Lights to raise money to support sick children. You're invited to see the Christmas display, and leave a tax-deductible donation at one of the curbside bins or online at Make-a-Wish Foundation. Mr. and Mrs. Claus usually make an appearance!

Roaring Camp Railroads Holiday Lights Trains
Holiday Tree Walk: Get into the holiday spirit by taking the family on a 75-minute roundtrip ride on the Redwood Forest Steam Train. The trip starts at Roaring Camp depot in Felton, California and runs through Redwood forests to the top of nearby Bear Mountain, a distance of 3.25 miles. Greet Santa Claus while sipping hot cocoa. Holiday Lights Train: Alternatively ride the Santa Cruz Beach Train from the Santa Cruz boardwalk. Enjoy train cars adorned with thousands of colorful lights, while rolling past Santa Cruz homes. Chanukah Train: Share in a new Chanukah tradition with a train ride through Santa Cruz, where you'll enjoy Chanukah stories, play dreidel, and savor kosher refreshments provided by Chabad by the Sea. There will be a lighting of the Menorah 15 mins before departure.

This year head to one of the many tree farms in the Bay Area to cut your own. It’s a great chance to be outdoors, breathing in the fresh pine scent. And when you’re done, enjoy a cup of hot chocolate with family and friends while creating new memories!
Here is my list of best Silicon Valley tree farms. Find your perfect Christmas tree, while getting into the holiday spirit! Most tree farms supply the saw, and the hot chocolate or apple cider. Why not make a day of it? Pack a picnic, roast marshmallows by the fire, ride the holiday train, and bring out your inner lumberjack! Don’t forget to dress warmly and bring boots, because it can be a little muddy.

At Four Winds Ranch, located on a sprawling 60-acre farm, guests are provided with a saw and twine to select and cut their ideal Christmas tree. The farm boasts a diverse array of trees in various types and sizes, including Douglas Fir, White Fir, Grand Fir, Spruce, Blue Spruce, Silvertip, Noble, and Sequoia, all available for $80. Visitors are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch and create new family traditions amidst the festive atmosphere. On weekends, Four Winds enhances the experience with complimentary candy canes, hot chocolate, apple cider, and firewood, while supplies last.
Located a short and scenic drive from Los Gatos, Frosty's offers a unique and engaging Christmas tree hunting experience. Upon arrival at the farm, guests are provided with a small handsaw, setting the stage for an authentic tree-selection adventure. Visitors have the option to either drive or stroll through the rows of lush, pesticide-free, naturally-grown Christmas trees. The selection includes Douglas Fir, Monterey Pine, Noble Fir, Sierra Pine, and Scotch Pine, with all trees priced uniformly at $90, irrespective of size or variety. Adding to the festive atmosphere, hot chocolate and coffee are available for guests, and on weekends, everyone can enjoy complimentary candy canes.
Patchen farms, comprising two locations – 'Old Town' on Old Santa Cruz Highway and 'Rancho' on Old Summit Road – cater to a variety of preferences. Courtney's Christmas Tree Farm offers a delightful holiday experience, combining the joy of choosing the perfect Christmas tree from a diverse selection, including live potted trees, with the enchantment of a farm visit. Enjoy complimentary candy canes and meet the friendly farm animals in their petting zoo, a favorite among children. Highlighting the festive atmosphere, Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, and their Elf Helpers visit annually from the North Pole. Their first visit will be Saturday, December 2, from 2 pm to 4:30 pm.
Battaglia Ranch Christmas Tree Farm
Battaglia Ranch, a popular choose-and-cut Christmas Tree Farm, is conveniently situated about 15 minutes south of San Jose, CA. Recognizable by its 35-foot-tall Santa Claus landmark off U.S. 101, between Morgan Hill and Gilroy, the farm offers a choice of three choose-and-cut tree varieties: Monterey Pine, Monterey Cypress, or Leyland Cypress. Additionally, pre-cut Fir trees sourced from Oregon are available.
The farm is renowned for its Christmas Tree Farm Train and Reindeer rides, cherished as a family tradition. Rides are complimentary for children under 3 years (lap children), with tickets for all other riders priced at $4, available for purchase at the Gift Shop. The shop also serves Hot Coffee, Hot Cocoa, a new delightful Mulling spice, assorted cold drinks, and packaged snacks. Santa Claus will be visiting Battaglia Ranch on November 24th, 25th, and 26th from 10am to 4pm.
Since 2020, Battaglia Ranch has offered the convenience of online ordering for pre-cut trees. Customers can choose a pick-up date and time, and the farm will prepare the tree for collection. Both delivery and contactless pickup options are available. For added convenience, they also provide a drive-thru service, allowing customers to select their tree from a variety of types and sizes without leaving their car.

Each tree is priced at $95, with this cost covering all taxes, cleaning, and netting services. Additionally, they have pre-cut trees, with prices varying based on the species.

Each Halloween, Downtown Campbell falls under a spell, summoning a legion of dancing zombies who "Thriller" their way through the streets. Orchestrated by San Jose's Adira Dance and Costume, these undead performers deliver Michael Jackson's iconic routine 6 to 8 times in one eerie evening.

Trick or Treating along Lincoln Avenue is a long-standing community tradition, and it's back this year. On Halloween, shops along Lincoln Avenue in Willow Glen will open up their businesses to trick-or-treating toddlers and babies in strollers from 11 AM to 12:30 PM, and school-age kids in costume from 3 PM to 4:30 PM. In the evening, head to the streets off the main street where you will find houses decked in spooky decorations, and find neighbors handing out plenty of candy.

Sarah Winchester, the reclusive widow of firearm magnate William Winchester, believed the house was haunted by the malevolent spirits of those claimed by the Winchester rifles. This year, the Bay Area’s most iconic house, is celebrating Halloween a with a special show Unhinged: Housewarming on select nights through October. General admission tickets grant you access to one spine-tingling route within the indoor haunt. The Pirates of Emerson Haunted Theme Park is a time-ed entry WALK THRU event for 2023. The attraction is billed as "where your worst nightmares become real. As you enter the Adventure, you enter a world of suspense and terror. The only thing on your mind will be your survival." Children are allowed, but it is not recommended for those under 13 years of age. Also there is a new age limitation. Anyone under 16 years old MUST be accompanied by an Individual 21 or over.
You must purchase tickets online. Tickets are not sold at the event.
The Fear Overload Scream Park is billed as the Bay Area’s scariest and most elaborate haunted house event! The terrifying walk takes you through hair-raising sets, filled with countless scares and trained actors. It's not for the faint hearted. There are two attraction this year:
House of Phobia: In the heart of Frightmare town stood the infamous "House of Phobia," a haunted house unlike any other, with a sinister reputation that lured the curious. As the moon reached its zenith, the gates creaked open, beckoning the brave inside. Each room tailored to exploit individual fears, from claustrophobia to the dread of darkness and heights.
Happy Days Asylum: Tread the line between terror and fascination. Inside, dimly lit hallways revealed faded murals and chilling desolation. Ghostly echoes of screams echoed, and reenacted medical horrors blurred the line between sanity and madness. The haunting experience painted a tapestry of anguish and hopelessness, awakening the patrons' souls to the depths of human suffering.
Note, this attraction is not recommended for children under 12 years old. Tickets may be purchased online. Save on ticket price by purchasing in advance.
It’s that time of the year again! The Autumn tradition is to head out to your favorite pumpkin patch, and pick your perfect pumpkin! Carve it up for Halloween or turn it into pumpkin pie! It’s something that everyone in the family can enjoy. Silicon Valley has many places for you to choose the best pumpkin, and entertain the kids as well. It’s as American as pumpkin – I mean – apple pie!
When it comes to the best pumpkin patches, Half Moon Bay deserves a special mention. After all, Half Moon Bay proudly holds the title of "Pumpkin Capital of the World" and hosts the annual "Half Moon Bay Art & Pumpkin Festival." There is so much to do at the Queen's Pumpkin Patch in Saratoga. Ride the cow train or paddle around in their bumper boats. There's also pumpkin painting, a petting zoo, a climbing wall, hamster balls, and a hay maze. Take a hay ride through the pumpkin patch and sunflower fields. Two years ago, they added a giant pumpkin slingshot. A ticket gets you 5 pumpkins to test out your skills!
Admission is $4.
You don't have to travel too far to find your perfect pumpkin. ABC Farms & Pick of the Patch Pumpkins has 19 locations in the Bay Area with seven in the South Bay. Each offers a variety of varied and fun activities for everyone, including “inflatable” amusements for children ages two to 12 years old and beautifully decorated “memory lanes” for taking photos. Visit the haunted house at the original pumpkin patch at Tully and East Capitol Expressway. Besides having a lot of fun, there are plenty of different varieties of pumpkins to choose from.

Spina Farms is located in Coyote Valley between San Jose and Morgan Hill, and hosts one of the largest pumpkin patches in the Bay Area. Select your pumpkins from over 25 unique varieties. Tour the pumpkin patch on the new Spina Pumpkin Express Train, or explore the Sunflower fields on an old-fashioned hay ride! There's even a barrel ride for your "little pumpkins". If that’s not enough, get lost in the corn maze and launch pumpkins from giant cannons! Food and drinks are available for purchase. Parking is free M-TH, and $10 FRI, SAT & SUN. No dogs allowed.
The family-owned and operated Webb Ranch has a 30-acre pumpkin patch featuring more than 20 varieties of organic pumpkins. Open 7 days a week with additional activities on the weekend, including a hay ride, train ride, corn maze, petting zoo, and reptile exhibit. New this year are the Haunted House inside the corn maze and a farm-themed obstacle course. For the activities, you must purchase an activity pass online before arriving at the farm as attendance is limited. No activity pass is required for just pumpkin picking. No dogs allowed.
Established in 1932, the Arata Pumpkin Farm is the oldest working pumpkin farm in Silicon Valley, and has something for everyone! Challenge yourself in their two-acre Minotaur’s Labyrinth hay maze. Scare yourself silly in their haunted barn. Or enjoy a hay ride. There are picnic areas throughout the farm, for when you want to relax and refuel. Lots of things for kids: Play Land playground with a miniature version of a hay maze, a train ride, guided pony rides and petting zoo! Bring your dog!
There’s lots of fun to be had at Lemos Farm! Pick your pumpkins from an amazing pumpkin patch. Enjoy pony rides, train rides, a petting zoo, bounce houses, Goat Yoga, and more. Enjoy pumpkin ice cream on the ghost train, or dig into pumpkin pie on one of their hay rides. In October the farm converts into a Halloween extravaganza. No wonder it’s considered a Halloween tradition! There is a live band and lots of Halloween-themed activities. Purchase an admission pass prior to your visit to the farm so as not to be disappointed. There are also a limited amount of tickets at the entrance for walk-ins.
Farmer John’s Pumpkin Farm is located on a working farm where you can learn everything you wanted to know about pumpkins directly from Farmer John. If all you want is pumpkins without all the other activities, this is the place for you. You will find more than 60 varieties of pumpkins and squash, including their Atlantic Giant, which can weigh anywhere from 250 and 500 pounds! Farmer John's sells pumpkin seeds for the green thumb to plant in their own backyard. Take your camera for the many photo opportunities, including the giant pumpkin display, authentic Native American Teepee, vintage tractor and rolling fields of pumpkins. Dogs are welcome on the farm.
